Nigerian Entrepreneur and renowned distributor of Adima Table Water, Mrs. Freda Robert has admonished Nigerian graduates to maximize their God given potentials, rather than neglect their skills in quest for white collar jobs. Freda hails from Edo State, South South region of Nigeria. She is a major distributor to other companies within and outside Edo State.
Freda Robert, a Filmmaker and currently one of the Nigerian feminist voices against gender discrimination, said in his Social Media handle (facebook) earlier this week, that most Nigerian graduates mortgaged their future due to the fact that they preferred working in a white collar firm, rather than embark on skilful demanding jobs, which tends to enhance a better livelihood for future endeavours and subsequently adequate provisions of family wants.
Freda Robert however used her life story to buttress her points which is currently running through screen in the social media space. Upon her graduation from the University few years ago, She decided to embark on Water business and started as a distributor, while her husband, farming, after all hope to get a white collar job with befitting salary payment hit the brimstone. She was always comfortable and joyous in carryout her duty a a distributor.
In her words, "So We decided to dive into business. I went into water business. My hubby went in farming. I started doing well in my water business, my boss who sees me as his partner gave me all the support I needed as at a time, we shared his name Adima, he never complained. We did the business on a family level. So many people mistaked me for his wife. I quickly corrected the ones I could"
"I told them he was my father instead. There was a time it was really though for me, I had just joined the company, one Thompson who also was a marketer helped me greatly. He would help me sell all my packs, he will pay me money and pack all my water, Thompson was a good guy loved by all, he was my first help. I started doing well, but the stress started taking a tow on me. I was making good money, as a distributor, I was making 25k per week and about 100k to 120k in a month, but the stress was devastating, I got other job offer including Etisalat in Lagos, I could not bring my self to be collecting 60k when I make more than that in the street"
"Every graduates wants a white collar job, a soft job, so also was I. I also got help to work with then sky bank in Benin but the pay was 40k. How do I cope? The expenses at home was way more than 100k per month and in some month I could make up to 160k and the expenses too many at times could be as high as 200k"
"I wanted a better stress free job and I needed the one that could pay as much and none was ready, my state been a civil servant state most of the private job owners paid 30k and the cost of living in Benin is so high because of the high level of foreign activities, why I was disturbing myself praying and searching for a better job because of pedigree and how people presumed I was suffering my pastor Glory Okoduwa gave me a life advice"
"Freda stay put your water business, very soon when we think water we think you. I took that advice when I was barely making profit. Yes I discovered my strength why doing all this, I could market, I am good at it. I have dozens of costumers who buy my product not because it's the best. But because I am the one selling it, we have long time graduated from costumers to family, they all supported me irrespective of what I bring to the table. I have developed my marketing prowess and can market anything good"
In conclusion, she said, "This story is to encourage your hustle, stop feeling intimidated because your job is not white collar" is it paying your bills better? Is it your area of strength? Consistency is a very great asset. Today I am proudly Adima water because I joined my boss in doing the business as mine, I recommend that water for you as it's tested and treated, to prevent typhoid fever drink Adima water, to live healthy and young drink Adima water"
