Ugo: The Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Mr. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki has earlier today visited and condoled with families of four victims who were allegedly murdered by suspected Fulani Herdsmen in Ugo Community, Ugboko Ward of Orhionmwon Local Government Area, Edo State.
Mega House TV however reports that the peace of Ugo residents and environs had been cut short, following series of attack, including the recent attack that broke out between Fulani herdsmen and farmers who are inhabitants of Ugo Community, last week when the Fulani herdsmen allegedly murdered four indigenes of Ugo Community.
The Executive Chairman of Orhionmwon Local Government Area, Hon. Sylvester Okoro who received the Governor on behalf of the good people of Orhionmwon appreciated the Governor for visiting Ugo Community, in spite of the very large and tight schedule.
In his words, "Your Excellency, I am highly grateful for this wonderful moment seeing you in our Local Government. Our people cannot longer sleep with their eyes closed. Last year, I issued two weeks ultimatum to the herders grazing in our region , due to their unfriendly system, after which we introduced the Data base system to help identify the actual herders, after which the riot act was read"
In his response, Gov. Obaseki said he was fully dedicated to the curbing of nefarious threat of insecurity in Orhionmwon in particular and Edo State at-large, adding that the main purpose for the visit was to commiserate with the families of the victim who were allegedly murdered by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Ugo environ.
In his words, Obaseki said "Here with me are senior officers with experience. I am here to commiserate with you. To let you know that we feel your pains. As a Government, we are very concerned and we are worried, because the principle role of any government is to protect the lives and property of citizens"
He added, "This afternoon, we are not here for long speeches, we are here to find out for ourselves what actually happened and make certain decisions. Although, this is not the first time it is happening, but we want to make sure that it does not happen again. Those notorious herdsmen will see superior fire. They are not higher than our security personnel.
In conclusion, the Enogie of Ugo Community, HRH. Enogie Ogierhiakhi Ogiugo, appreciated the Governor for his commitment to tackle insecurity in the region, as well as commended him for the visit.
