Edo Assembly applauds Hon. Okoro for repositioning Health sector, commends laudable 3 yrs  scorecard

Leadership of Edo State House of Assembly, led by the Deputy Speaker,  Rt. Hon. Roland Osadebamwen Asoro, on behalf of the Speaker and entire House has applauded the Executive Chairman of Orhionmwon Local Government Area, Hon.  Sylvester Okoro on the restructuring, repositioning of the Council's Health sector and revamping of other related reforms. 

The legislators made the submission when members of 'Edo State House Committee on Health, visited Orhionmwon Local Government earlier yesterday, as part of their tour of health facilities in the eighteenth (18) Local government areas of the state.

The Deputy Speaker,  Rt. Hon. Asoro described the Council Boss as a determined administrator who knows how to redefine and ameliorate the suffering of the people,  adding that qualitative primary health care delivering remains an integral part of the government. He however appreciated the Council Boss for ensuring that the Primary Health sector of the Council takes a compelling outlook. 

In his words, "On behalf of the leadership of Edo State House of Assembly, I sincerely congratulate you on this landmark achievement recorded in the health sector, viz-a-viz in restructuring the primary health sector, which is in consonance with the Edo Health Insurance Scheme as instituted by the State Governor, in ensuring that all citizens gets vital, accessible and qualitative health care delivering. We are aware of the previous stage of this local government and we are also aware of your blueprints and landmark achievement in this past three years, congratulations"

On his part, the chairman, Edo State House Committee on Health, Pharm. Emmanuel Okoduwa said the visit was as part of the ongoing tour which was a directive from the speaker, geared towards obtaining vital and robust statistical information to ascertain the accurate level of Health facilities in the eighteenth (18) Local government areas of the state.

The legislator Pharmacist Okoduwa said,  "In this visit, we will be looking at the present states and number of Primary Health Care Centres, staff strength, viability and their categories: number of doctors, nurses, pharmacists, scientists and other related outcome in the PHC. The Council's budget in the last three years will be perused, Whether it met the WHO recommendation or otherwise"

In his response, Hon. Sylvester Okoro appreciated the delegation from Edo State House of Assembly for their witty assessment, adding that he has devoted more energy, resources with dedication,  effectiveness and diligence to ensure the Primary Health Centers in Orhionmwon takes a new look,  both in terms of effective deliverables, human capacity and structural reforms. 

In his words, "I sincerely appreciate your efforts for this visit. It is not an easy task to go round the eighteen local government areas of Edo State as part of the ongoing Health tour of the legislative house. I must commend you for your sacrifices and quest to ensuring a qualitative health care delivering in Edo State, which is also in line with Gov. Godwin Obaseki's Mega Agenda"

He continued, "Though, it has not been easy going round to ensure the absolute restructuring of the primary Health care centres which now wears new look all over the twelve wards of Orhionmwon local government area. These projects are verifiable all over. The testimony is not only visible in the primary health sector in this three years of my administration, also,  there are also restructuring in other sectors. We had embarked on Monitory and Evaluation exercise several times and the testimonies are verifiable"

Hon. Okoro however said his administration is fully ready to continue and sustain the accurate sensitization and awareness campaigns in curbing the Covid 19 pandemic, via free distributions of hand sanitizers in various markets, parks, communities, among other measures as well as unveiled his readiness to tackle the second wave of the Pandemic in the local government, adding that everything had been put in place to further enforce adherence and compliance to safety protocols.
