*Resume or Handover your lesson Notes;  Comr.  Ogbeide tells Edo NUT over proposed ignominious strike*

_Says Edo NUT are partisan politicians, the strike action is just a distraction. Commends No work, No Pay by Govt_

Award winning Author,  Renowned Journalist and Former Chairman of Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Edo State Chapter, Comrade Goodluck Osama Ogbeide has described the proposed strike by the Edo State wing of Nigeria Union of Teachers,  (NUT) as  distraction which is aimed at ridiculing and reducing the pedigree built by the Executive Governor of Edo State, His Execellency, Mr. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki who is poised on digitalizing, re-branding and reawakening the dwindling education sector of the state.

The former Chairman of ANA Edo State Chapter, who also doubled as the Chief Executive Officer of Mega House TV and Mega House Edu-Consult, however said it is unfortunate that the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Teachers have been compromised and mortgaged, adding that partisan politicking has beclouded and shrouded their sense of reasoning,  thereby inviting ridicule to the education sector.

Comrade Ogbeide however supported the idea of 'No work,  No pay' as stipulated by Edo State Government, adding that the teachers are inconsiderate for birthing the notion of embarking on arduous strike,  after spending various months at home with free salaries,  due to the nationwide partial lock down as orchestrated by the Covid '19 pandemic.

Ogbeide further said Education has been digitized in the state, restructuring of reforms, With continuous training and re-training of teachers,  not exonerating prompt payment of salaries and adequate pension clearance.

In his words, Ogbeide said "As a unionist, it is heinous and a lackadaisical approach for Edo State wing of Nigeria Union of Teachers to mouth a rebellious propaganda of strike,  when they are yet to deliver service being paid for. Sincerely, they have no moral justification to call for strike. Let call a spade, a spade. It is an X-ray of partisan politicking. The strike action is just a distraction and nothing more. To my knowledge, NUT are chasing the empty wind. They should resume on Monday 1st of February, 2021 or Handover their lesson notes for more serious and competent individuals"

He added "The strike action is nothing but a distraction to the Performing Governor, who is hellbent on restructuring Tge education system of the state and dedicated to the promotion of teachers welfare. I sincerely urge all  teachers with good conscience to resume work on Monday 1st of February as directed by the Government in lieu of eschewing the phrase 'If I had known'.

Ogbeide continued, "I am very familiar with the system and I have come to understand that the leadership of the union  are not keen and interested in achieving the welfare of its members, but rather,  they are more interested in their stomach call,  Personal aggrandizement at the detriment  of the members and system.

The leadership are more concerned about themselves. They are ready to frustrate any policy which tends to shift the plate from their table,  as they see portfolio as the corridor for embezzlement, without considering the fortunes of their pupils/ students.

I have meticulously read through their demands and I quit agree that there is need for a meeting between the Government and the leadership for proper discussion to mend fences and not the threat of strike when our children have at home for months, due to the pandemic"

"As an Educationist, I had known that the leadership of NUT will not be comfortable with the activities of the State Universal Basic Education Board,  as they  see them as a threat owing to the fact that there have been a total cleaning, restoring sanity and wellness to the sector,  unlike those days when they had their ways by their collection of various levies,  uncounted fees, and other forms of exhortation carried out by the head of schools and subsequently, school teachers"
