*EdoBest attaining  climax as EDSG/ SUBEB hosts Korean delegation learning more about witty initiative*

Benin City: The Edo Basic Education Transformation Sector, (Edo BEST) initiative has again clinched higher boost as the Edo State Government and State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) recently hosted a Korean delegation who were in the state to learn more about EdoBEST, an initiative previously launched by the Gov. Godwin Obaseki led administration for the reawakening of the dwindling Education sector, as well as assess the level of construction progress in the FGN/UBEC supported multimedia Model school at Abudu in Orhiomwon Local Government Area on the 17th and 18th January, 2021.

In an interview with the Chairperson of Edo State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. (Mrs) Joan Oviawe, said the Edo Basic Education Transformation Sector flagged off by the Governor Godwin Obaseki led administration is currently taking a lead in the Basic Education sector, adding that some other States of Nigeria, and other countries via delegation are on the forefront to emulate the laudable initiative. 

Meanwhile, the SUBEB Boss also led the team to assess the level of construction progress in the FGN/UBEC supported multimedia Model school at Abudu in Orhiomwon LGA, a school which is nearly adjacent Abudu campus of the Edo State College of Education. She however posit that "Once completed,  the school will be wholly digital and will also serve as a learning lab for the teacher training students in the College of Education"

She however unveiled in recognition of Gov. Obaseki's laudable strides in basic education, FGN/UBEC decided to site the South-South regional model school in Edo State and His Excellency, Gov. Godwin Obaseki has opted to include additional amenities such as  mini-stadia, etc., in addition to what FGN/UBEC is providing.

Mega House reports that Dr. Joan Osa Oviawe as the Executive Chairperson of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has spearheaded widespread reforms in the basic education sub-sector under the framework of  Edo BEST (Edo Basic Education Sector Transformation). Dr. Oviawe is a gender and education specialist whose work experience in education, development and gender spans four continents.

The five cardinal pillars of Edo Best includes; Government and institutional strengthening, which is aimed at building the capacity of every staff, both teaching and non-teaching staff. The second pillar is teacher professional development and quality assurance aimed at revamping the school inspectorate division of our basic education sub-sector so that the quality assurance officers can deliver their work in an effective manner. 

The third pillar is curriculum and learning outcomes which focuses on the pupils and how they are able to learn well so that they can grow and graduate to be useful members of the society. The fourth pillar is community engagement and private partnership where we shall involve the private sector, NGOs, religious bodies. The fifth pillar deals with the provision of school infrastructure and facilities.
